UGA Pesticide Safety Education Program
UGA Extension’s Pesticide Safety Education Program (PSEP) promotes the responsible and safe use of pesticides throughout Georgia. We offer educational resources, training programs, and study guides for private, commercial, and residential applicators.
Who needs a pesticide applicator’s license?
If you want to purchase or use a restricted use pesticide, you or your supervisor must have a pesticide applicators license issued by the Georgia Department of Agriculture.
Are you unsure of what license you need?
Please select one of the following options below that best represents your needs.
I want to purchase and use or supervise the use of a restricted use pesticide on my property or the property of my employer to produce a commodity (agricultural, horticultural, or forestry).
You need a private pesticide applicators license. Please visit Private Applicators for more information.
I don’t produce a commodity, but I want to purchase and use a restricted use pesticide on my property or someone else’s property without charging a fee.
You need a commercial pesticide applicators license. Please visit Commercial Applicators for more information.
I want to purchase and use a restricted use pesticide on my property or someone else’s property, but I want to charge a fee for doing so.
You need a commercial pesticide applicators license AND a pesticide contractor’s license. Please visit Commercial Applicators for more information on both licenses.
I want to apply restricted use pesticides inside or around a structure to control a household pest (fleas, flies, roaches, rodents, ticks, ants, clothes moths).
You need a structural pest control license specializing in household pest control. Please visit the Georgia Department of Agriculture’s Structural Pest Division website for more information.
I’m not sure.
That’s okay! Please contact program coordinator Dr. Allison Johnson to discuss licensure by e-mail (preferred) at ajohns14@uga.edu.
